WHEN TRADITION MEETS RELAXATION

Masseria Bagnara was established as a hotel and restaurant business in 2010, after a renovation that lasted about five years.

The original structure, located in the Contrada from which it takes its name, was a peasant farm first mentioned in documents from the end of the 17th century and operated for several decades.

In this masseria, under the ownership of different families over the centuries, life was lived by numerous people who cultivated the land and produced basic necessities: cattle breeding and the cultivation of wheat, oats and barley were practised; ricotta and delicious cheeses were produced, processed by the hands of the farmers and then sold at village markets.

It was with an eye on this extraordinary past that the Pagano family envisioned creating a receptive structure, beginning a renovation that would respect the original form but at the same time be in step with the times and the desires of today’s tourist clientele.

Based on the assumption that this precious history had to be protected and enhanced, the design idea was to leave the historic building in its entirety in its parts, transforming what were once working and living spaces for farmers, into functional reception areas. In this way, the old animal shelters, the ‘suppenne’, have changed their identity and have been transformed into Deluxe rooms and Suites; the old warehouses have become a Wellness Centre and Restaurant; the oldest structure, the ‘pagliara’, has been transformed into a fine Wine Cellar.

Masseria Bagnara has never abandoned its past and the Pagano family, who have owned it for many years, have not distorted the sense and identity of this place, while guiding the renovation in a direction of modernity and functionality, necessary for a national, but also and above all international, level of hospitality.

MASSERIA BAGNARA IS ALSO THIS.
